The national bachelor’s attainment rate among students who start college at a community college remains below 20 percent. The completion rates for adult community college starters are even lower, ranging from 6 percent to 11 percent.  

The Aspen Institute recently released the second edition of The Transfer Playbook entitled Transfer Playbook 2.0: A Practical Guide for Achieving Excellence in Transfer and Bachelor’s Attainment for Community College Students. This edition builds on previous research and fieldwork to provide practical strategies for achieving positive transfer and bachelor’s attainment outcomes.  

The report also includes detailed field examples from various institutions, highlighting successful practices such as advising systems, support for students' basic needs, and partnerships between community colleges and universities.
